Hi folks,

I'm thinking of getting a dual Xeon system for LW. Any suggestions for good (or bad) motherboards?

Or any web pages that talk about them? Tom's Hardware Guide doesn't deal with dual systems very often (and their LW benchmarks are misleading in relation to AMD vs Intel. Anyone else noticed this?)

Thanks muchly,
Colin

Try this board from Asus (at bottom of page)

Also if you are installing Windows you might want to check Microsoft Compatibilty (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/catalog/default.aspx?subid=22&xslt=categoryl3&pgn=6b15abaa-2908-464f-85bf-9690bbe348ec) This saved me, one of my other MBoards was not tested a verified by Microsoft and it was causing crashs every 5-15 minutes. Went to this site picked a motherboard went to the local Electronic Store bought it and never had a crash since then [2 years and counting].

I got there from MS HCL Site (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx)

Thanks guys,

I had noticed Asus' PC-DL motherboard before, but I wasn't too sure what it was like, considering that it's supposed to be using a different chipset to Intel's standard dual Xeon chipset.

Cunning and innovative? Or untried and buggy? It's had to know without some kind of experience.

Thanks again,
Colin
