The University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Athletics is accepting applications from qualified applicants for a Staff Assistant, Coordinator of Video Production.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Create and execute all Athletic Department video/television productions. This includes production of game broadcasts, features, game atmosphere promotions, commercials and special projects. Responsible for ensuring that all video/television productions maintain and adhere to the philosophies and regulations of the Conference, NCAA, University, State, and federal entities. Produce and direct all live game broadcasts for television and Internet on the UMass Sports network, available worldwide; work in collaboration with media staff in production of video content for team recruiting Web sites; work with Assistant AD for Broadcasting in purchasing and maintenance for all video broadcast equipment; produce original content for Athletic Department including features, promotions, video board projects and commercials; compose special video projects for the Athletic Department (i.e. Hall of Fame Video, Senior Banquet, Team highlight videos); generate video content for UMassAthletics.com and recruiting websites; assist in recruitment, hiring and staffing for broadcasts on UMass Sports Network; manage and oversee the complete video library for UMass Athletic Department; work directly with UMass Athletics’ flagship television station in production of weekly shows to help provide content and technical assistance; create and distribute game highlights for UMass Sports network and other media outlets (television and Internet) including regional and national stations; coordinate set-up for all UMass All-Access web streaming productions; work with the Director of Marketing on the hiring, supervising, and direction of all game day video board staff; monitor and maintain websites that will expand the department’s information services and increase its visibility to such groups as recruits, media, alumni and fans; in charge of working with internal Athletic Department offices such as media relations, marketing, academics, compliance, and business office to ensure that all video production initiatives are executed in accordance with each department’s responsibility; keep abreast of current trends and developments in the field through publications, seminars, conferences and peer group associations; responsible for adhering to all department, University, NCAA, and state and federal regulations; perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required in communications, television production, broadcast journalism, or related field. Minimum of one year of experience in sports video production. Knowledge of NewTek Tricaster (or comparable) video production system. Knowledge of FinalCut Pro editing system (or comparable), non-linear editing methods and Adobe Photoshop. Experience in using Macintosh and/or PC computers. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with various constituencies. Ability to work effectively with diverse user groups. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Ability to work a varied schedule including nights and weekends. The successful candidate will be subject to a background check, including a criminal history check.

SALARY RANGE: Hiring Range $35,500-$44,700; Normal Starting Salary $35,500-$40,100
