Help on trendwhore surface pls [Archive]

Hey all

I'm a real trendwhore addict and I like to create some images myself. But when it comes to surface I get stuck.

I like a surface like the pictures below show. Could anyone help me out please?

Doesn't look like there is anything special in those textures...

What you do see are some overlays, like a raster over a finished rendered image... (image 1)

A model with it's lines rendered... you can have the lines of your model rendered in LW too...

Some volumetrics and/or hypervoxels seem to be mixed in for some lighting effects...

In general, apply some transparency and plenty of specularity to the surfaces and use a shader like fresnel... there are some 'tutorials' on these types of images as well... See the trendwhoria thread (in gallery-finished) for some pointers and search here or on cg talk for swirlies/crystals...
