'm trying to do a character animation clothed with cloth fx and am having a problem i need help with. When trying to have cloth fx calculate, my meshes for the clothes and the character disappear leaving only the characters bones during the calculation. I tried to render and there is nothing there. Any one else had this problem?

What kind of settings are you using? Scale of objects etc? Need a little more info please :)

I am using the light cotton preset on the clothes. -9.8m/s on gravity. On my collision object I am using three weight maps.
Surrealist.

I have had the clothes just fly off in some direction never to bee seen again. (that is until I clear out the calculation) But not the body.
The clothes flying off is sort of a bug - I guess - and it usually when it happened I had to just delete the cloth plug in and add a new one.
If you have too much information - many vertexes - or certain settings in the cloth plugin that require long calculations, weird things like this can happen.
But judging by the fact that the body is also disappearing you likely have something else going on too.
But as dodgy says more information is needed I think. A full list of the cloth settings. picture of the collision object and the cloth object would be nice.
Also the distance (offset) setting on the cloth and the collision object for collision would be one place to look for a problem.
