View Full Version : Model: Portrait
Haven't posted here in a while so, here is an image of my latest head model. Another attempt at a capturing a portrait likeness. The hair is done with Sas, I didn't spend alot of time on it. Image maps continue to be a work in progress and were paint with a combination of Photoshop and Aura. I really like Aura's brush control for painting bump maps. If anyone wants to see a wire I can post one. We're always learning so c&c welcome.

Assuming you were going for a likeness of Willem DaFoe I think you got it.
The only think which bothers me directly is the ear, which doesn't look completed.
(and the hair looks like a bad wig, but you addressed that yourself).
Your model is really top notch in my oppinion, I'd try rendering it in some different lighting setups for better realism.

Wow this is impressive. I recongnised him straight away. The only thing i can see that seems a little bit off, to me at least, is the angle the eyes are pointing. They both seem too different. Hope that makes sense.
Great work.
Very nice. I agree with everyone else you need to work on the ears, the hairline, the eyes pointing different directions then you have gallery material.

Just done a Google DaFoe search to confirm what I thought: this is recognisably him, but the glaring problem is the vertical crease above the nostril. Should be curving round and into the top of the nostril, not running parallel with the nose.
Other than that: thumbs up! :)

Great job on Mr De Foe there.
With a bit more work and tweaking, I think U'll have him spot on.

OK, I had a little time to make some mods. Here is an updated render. Everyone , including myself, seemed to agree that the ears did need some work, so I concentrated on that. Also adjusted the crease which seemed odd where it blended into the nose. The eyes also seemed a little crossed, so I tweaked that a little as well. I Haven't changed the lighting or the surface settings. I'll be playing with that next. I've also included some wire views and thumbnails of the image maps.

The tweaks you've done have improved the picture and it was great before. All you need to do now is add a body and some bones to animate him and you can put him out of a job! :)
