Here is the newest member of the 3d streetcar collection at http://www.fastmodel.com . I am expanding the collection to cities other than Boston. The model is not posted yet because it is still in progress, there is a lot of texture tweeking left to do.
I plan to bake the surfaces to make UV maps for a low poly version of this model, it will be used for Microsoft Train Simulator.

Great!
But one small info i think you should change a front window. Form me it's look like a plastic.

I need a good set of presets, with glass and metal surfaces. I've seen some amazing automobile paint surfaces, what about auto glass? Also tips on rendering flat glass ( like the side windows)effectively would be helpful. Flat glass seems to need incredibly high resolution spherical evironment maps in order not to look foggy.

Looks to me your refraction is a little high the front window. Maybe it is just the angle.

Have you tried the fresnel shader for the glass?

Here is a version with the fresnel filter applied to the glass, still not quite right. I am not satisfied with tthe flat glass yet either. The problem seems to be lack of reflection map resolution.
I had mispelled the destination CONNAUGHT, that is now fixed, my friend from Toronto caught that one! Does anyone make a spell checker script for lightwave...hmmm.

Looks like a Rocket to me!
Great job. Now can you do anything about bringing the fares back down to $2? The extra quarter is annoying. :)

Excellant modelling and texturing.
Personally the windscreen glass looks spot on to me. Like you though i think it's the side windows that need altering a little. I think it's hard to judge how accurate glass is when it's in an empty scene.
I would love to see this compsoited. I think it would be hard to judge it wasn't real then.

One of the main reasons why the glass may not look right is it's reflecting an image that's not in the surroundings. I bet if you placed that in an outside enviroment it would look right. It's only because you've got the blue sky and trees reflecting but the actual surroundings are black.

Looks good! Your glass is perfect in the front. I think a sharper reflection image would bring out the side windows. Nice.
