Automatic Keyframes??

Ok this is killing me how do I enable automatic keyframes?? I am trying to move stills on and off in about 5 sec. or less... so I set my first keyframe by pressing the Keyframe button in the poisitioner window... I then move forward 20 or so frames and make my next move... ahhh but the prior keyframe is still active and if I move anything it messes with my first key frame.
Now on my longer clips it is working just fine I just make my change and the keyframe is created with no problems.
It is just these short clips that it is not working and driving me CRAZY (my work around is going to spline view and manually creating the keyframe which totally sucks to do)

Just tried it here and no problems. I used an overlay and a still. Hit 'q' to get to the head, hit 'Keyframe' in the Positioner panel, moved forward 20 frames (shift right arrow 4 times) and move a little and automatic keyframe. I even tried moving 1 frame and still got the second keyframe fine...

I restarted and it started to work again??? go figure?
