I've read some tutorials on space scenes for providing "battle damage" and the like by using a graphics editor to produce bitmaps, and then lay them on the surface of the model.
I've had some good effects using hypervoxels to do things like atmosphere leaks. small explosions, etc, but I haven't yet found a good dynamic way to leave scars/holes in models.
I'm curious if anyone knows of a tutorial for doing more "dynamic" damage, such as having a beam slice into an object, and scar it, etc.
I'm also curious if there any good tutorials, add-ons, or methods for breaking up models (again, typically to fragment things when they explode, etc.). I've thought about pre-slicing a model in to "pieces parts" (sorry, old US chicken commerical), reassembling it for a scene and
then breaking them up during the explosion, but I'm thinking that this is common enough that there has to be an easier way.
Thanks ahead of time for the pointers.
