overlay

when using over lay I am unable to use dves on the footage that is overlay on. is there a way to fix that? what I do now is take the footage and make the transitions then render it take teh render version on the track and put overlay on that footage. I wish there was a way to do it all in one session of TED? any Ideas? thanks

You can use DVE on footage under an overlay, which is what you are asking, I think. You cannot use DVE on the overlay however. Also, any footage you want to use DVE on must not have overlay checked or it will not work. Of course with the new 3D positioning and splines many DVE style moves can now be done on overlays.

In a pinch where you want footage with overlay DVE'ing to another piece of footage, we do a quick fade of the overlay just as the DVE starts up and it looks fine most of the time. When you just have to have the overlay go off in the DVE you can razor out a section, render it out and drop it in to do the DVE effect.

Maybe one day we will be able to DVE overlays, but don't expect it any time soon...

You can also render out the section you want a DVE on replace it and then apply the DVE
