My basic interface preference in SE2 is to have a full screen preview on my second LCD monitor. The primary monitor shows the work window with timeline, control panel etc.
With SE2.1 everytime I open the program, all of the windows are pushed over to my Primary Monitor along with the full screen preview which covers up all of the other windows I placed in SE.
Unfortunately the opening File Select dialog is UNDERNEATH the full screen preview window and I can't see it to select a file and thus gain access to SE so I can move or reduce the size of the preview.
In other words, all I have when I open SE2.1 is a primary monitor that is entirely black and can't be changed. Only option is to close the program from the Windows toolbar. :help:

It can't be this simple surely, but my SE 2 is set up so my "video monitor" is on the second computer monitor. To get it to do this I just make sure when I close SE2 the "video project" monitor is in a different monitor than my time line etc...then every time I reopen SE2 it opens that wasy.

I also have the SE Output on my second monitor. I simply open SE, slide the SE Output window over to my second monitor, and double click on it to make it full screen. It works great and the same way it did in previous versions.

To get it to do this I just make sure when I close SE2 the "video project" monitor is in a different monitor than my time line etc...then every time I reopen SE2 it opens that way.

That's exactly what used to happen for me also. At least until I loaded the new version SE2.1 that Newtek just posted for download.

Donx,

You are right about 2.1. I didn't realize 2.1 had been released just yesterday. I updated my 2.0 to 2.1 and it does the exact same thing, puts everything on one monitor every time, no matter what I try to do to fix the problem. and putting the work area behind the video monitor is extra aggravating. To make things worse, when I hit the "add media" section I can't find the normal new window that opens....I'm going back to 2.0.:cursin:

Another bug has been found in SE2.1.
I am unable to delete anything from an Add Media window, if that window is placed on the secondary monitor. When I select a file or group of files and hit Delete, the program locks up and the only thing that works is the space bar that starts playback of the timeline.
*Deleting from the Add Media windows works when they are on the Primary monitor.

SE2.1 is one step backwards and two point one steps backwards.
I can't use it the way it is.

However the LiveMatte is pretty cool addition... until I use the colour picker which 6 times out of 10 causes a complete lock-up of my computer. This has been happening even in SE2.

Whew!!! That's a releif. :oye:
I'm back in the relative safe and stable SE2 world after a amazing journey into the workings of SpeedEdit v.2.1

Caution: This version may cause extreme bouts of frustration and wasted time. Please Newtek, don't give up yet. You just need to assign someone who's priority it is, to iron out the bugs in the present version and get it working at all of the things it promises to be able to do.

All of the display problems went away when I re-installed SE2 overtop of the update. Now it's back to normality.

Donx,
So you are back to using the previous version and not the new update?

AS far as I know, only internal.

I started to download the 2.1 update, but I decided to cancel it after reading the reports of bugs here. It still seems like NT's priority is TriCaster - just look at the new home page. I agree with the previous poster that NT needs to make SpeedEdit more of a priority - look how long it took for this .1 release.

:cursin: WARNING
I almost finished editing a 4 camera concert on SE2.1 before it drove me crazy and I had to go back toSE2.0
Now I was about to finish the edit and I find out that the file is not backward compatible with SE2.0

My frustration will subside, given time. :twak: However my only solution seems to be to re-install SE2.1 and try to finish it totally.

I'm seeing the same bug initially posted here and am about to go back to 2.0 myself. C'mon, Newtek...really? Fix this stuff ASAP.

I also find everything moved back to my first monitor when I open SE 2.1 It's a minor pain to put my windows back on monitor two. But I don't get trapped with a big Video Monitor in black, because under preferences, I have "Show Startup Dialog" set to "Use Last Project". That allows me to double-click on the Video Monitor if it's full screen, and then move it around or whatever.
