I just posted a problem caused by SpeedEDIT on the Cakewalk forum:

Apparently the two have a conflict, probably related to the SpeedEDIT install program's "fixing" of Active-X controls. I have reproduced it here:
Hi,
Some months ago I made a post complaining of SONAR Producer 8.5 losing its ability to produce sound when clicking on a note while in Staff View. I have now found the culprit. This system has Windows 7/64 Home Premium. I had to re-install the OS because I had broken the sound. I had removed a service (called 'Power') since a web-page had claimed it was malware or a virus. After deleting the service, the onboard sound system no longer worked. Failing to find a way to explicitly re-install it, I decided to reinstall the OS. After I got the sound working, I tried SONAR and the clicking on note in Staff View problem was gone. However, I primarily use this machine for 3D animation and video editing. I found I needed to re-install SpeedEDIT by Newtek. It prompted me with a popup that Active-X was broken and either needed to fix it or to uninstall it. I chose Fix and SpeedEDIT was usable once again. I then tested SONAR again and the click-on-note in Staff View problem was back. Looks like I might have to report the problem to Newtek.
