Hi, me needs a fast decision. Right now I have in my work PC GF4 Ti4200 which is SoftQuadroed to XGL780.
My bud is offering me a video card called 3Dlabs Oxygen GVX1 with a very cheap price. For 140$. I have no idea about this card itself, is it any good or not. All I know is that I need to model and animate in LW. Plus of course...I expect..with this card u can not play any games, what I also like to do sometimes.
If put head to head, that Oxygen CVX1 and Radeon 9600 PRO(what I am planning to get soon), what card has better perfomance and from what I can profit better.
Thank You.

I have the nvida GeForce FX 5900 ultra in my new alienware computer.

If you want to know about the card your "bud" is ofering you go to http://www.3dlabs.com/product/oxygen/oxygen_gvx1_index.htm

Skip the GVX1 and get the Geforce, you probably won't be able to tell the difference and the Geforce will play games better. I have owned the Oxygen VX1 and now the Wildcat VP970. In between I owned a Geforce 3 TI 500 and a Geforce 4 TI 4200. I was just as happy with the Geforce cards, and they were more compatible with games.

Have used the GVX1 in the past... it's an old professional card with ordinary performance. Presently, my system has a Ti-4600 and it beats it hands down. Personally i would suggest the new NVIDIA's Geforce FX rather than going to the 9600 ... but that's only my opinion.

By the way, did softquadroing your Geforce make any significant performance increase? I certainly didn't see any when i did it (not in Lwave anyways)

Hmmm..perfomance in LW.
Read this and draw ur conclusions from here: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/profcards/1review-3dlabs-wildcats.html
Could someone explain..why LW has so ****ty perfomance...whatever card u take..high-end or budget card..all they have same perfomance:confused:

And Minou29, why I should not go with 9600 pro. I would love to go with fx5600ultra but they do have very bad dx 9 support plus the suck generaly in perfomance too.

Poor implementation of openGL from what I can tell.
