Hi.

I've had a feeling that my Graphics Card is slightly faulty for a while after getting more aliasing in Flight Simulator than normal, but I have just started a new project in LW and have noticed that rendered frames also seem aliased.

Would a faulty graphics card cause rendered images from Lightwave to be jaggy and stairstep-like?

Shouldn't do, GFX cards only AA OpenGL, not the images, but worth posting the images (and / or scene files too).

The graphics card won’t effect the rendering. There maybe a sharpness setting for the GC software. But this is only a monitor issue & not a render issue.

Have you got enough ram?

Rendering.....

If you are rendering an image at say an AA of 9 (if doing 8, you might as well do 9. 5,9,17,33 etc, there is a slightly more of a jump in quality), it’s quite often better to double the size (4 x the area) of the image & render with an AA of 2. It take about the same time to render.

Then halve the size in PS, it really helps with jaggies, rather than rendering at the final size you require.
