This is my first REAL model that I have done. I have only had the program for a week, and have not had much time to use it because of school, but I'm starting to read the manual and follow some tutorials. I'm just getting into procedurals and surfacing, so this was a learning experience.:) I like the program so far...much more flexible than Rhino (atleast the demo). I know it sucks, but, it's mine atleast:cool:

Good attitude. Don't worry so much about "sucking" right now. Save this for when you get really good and you can see how far you've come.
General advice - study apples. Get some apples/apple photos for reference to paint a color map, and then go for bump, spec, etc. It'll gradually get better as your modeling and texturing skills improve.
Keep going. You should see the crap I made when I started - it would make your feel a lot better about your apple.
Procedurals are helpful at times, but I always prefer painting textures. If you don't feel too comfortable with that, you could always modify photos - that's what a lot of "pros" are doing with head models these days.

hey, i think it's good you start off with something simple as this apple. when i first got lightwave i thought "man, i'm gonna build myself a VIPER!", and after a couple of hours when i hadn't even figured out how to make the tyres, i kinda lost interest and didn't really got into lightwave as fast as i could have got if i had started by making the obligatory wineglass or something. your're gonna be my hero some day, keep posting your progress. :)
and i like yourapple. it is cute.

lol, thanx guys, that is really encouraging.
And, I cannot paint textures yet, but I will try that when I order Photoshop in a couple of weeks.:)
Really, I mean it, your words are very kind. I appreciate them very much.:)

Yeah, good idea to start off simple.
The apple looks great for ur first attempt. I have had LW for a year and still haven't rendered out a finished piece of work.
Keep up the good work.
Best Wishes
