I'm trying to simulate this type of surface in LW using GI or whatever means necessary. When I do it the surface either to gray or to reflective....any pointers on this? I've attached a example...thanks!

Looks more hard shiny plastic than metalic, so you may not want to use a reflection map, 'cause that allways tends to make reflective surfaces look very 'metal'.
colour is probably around 250 250 250
diffuse around 80, spec 20 - a higher spec might give too sharp an effect - but you can play with that , you may want to cheat with a little luminosity.
Remember the image you have sent is of an object in a very hot white environment.
So test your surface in the enveronment - make some luminous white objects around it - the surroundings will affect the image more than the exact detail of the surface settings
it is pretty reflective (20%+), but not mirror- you will need to blur the reflections probably about 30%
