3DSMax 'Ragdoll'.
I was reading an Aussie computing magazine I bought this morning called 'Atomic', and whilst the team at the magazine were testing a whole host of NVidia GPU's, they mentioned 'Ragdoll' :
"A new character dynamics construction system ... that will be included in the upcoming 3DSMax v.6.0 release."
Is what they are mentioning similar to LightWave 8.0's character dynamics?

Cinema 4D started all this with their "Soft IK" stuff. Then Newtek announced their stuff at Siggraph, then --|Wavefront got an article on CGChannel about how to do it in Maya, now MAX.... Motion dynamics on skeletons seems to have become the new buzz concept. On the one hand, bfd, but on the other, it's nice to see 3D software getting better. =)

I was asking about stuff like this years ago ... before C4D even came out with their soft IK. Not being a "professional" 3D artist, I would have thought the industry would have been screaming for this much earlier. Or was it that everybody shunned physical simulation in favor of the art of animating this by hand?
