Playback issues

Hello,
I'm new here so hopefully this isn't a stupid question, but ....

I am having trouble playing clips (.mp4) in the timeline w/ SE 2.0, the clips pause and then play (I would describe it as lagging). They play fine in in Media player. I am assuming this a codec issue? I have tried the generic codec pack, but I haven't had any luck. I have tried converting to SpeedHQ, but I get an error?

Same here with mpeg2, very annoying.

How long is the lag before it plays? I trust you have the files on a hard drive, & not on a USB device?

Give us a bit more of a description of what's wrong.
