Can't get simple dissolve to work.

I think someone started a thread on this before, but I don't remember when/where.

Situation:

Two RTV clips.

Move one to overlap the other.

Dissolve does not happen.

Why?

Are you overlapping your clips on the same horizontal level, e.g.

aaaaaxxxxbbbbb

or on different levels?

aaaaaaaa
.....bbbbbbbbb

You should get a dissolve in the first case, but not in the second case. (But in the second case you can drag a dissolve or any DVE into the overlapping area).

yes, same horizontal level. works in other projects, and even between other, different clips in the same timeline, but not between these two distinct clips.

You'll probably find that Threads work better than Threats Taiji (just ask steveg), but at any rate I think that's what the Toaster Tips and Techniques thread on the General Support discussion is for. You'd be coming at it from the back side. but then that's how we learn most this stuff anyway. Once we figure out what doesn't work that only leaves what does. ;)
