My video edit projects are growing and they now seem to be about 1 hour each. I was wondering whether this coincided with SE2 crashing and locking up, much more than before?
I run XPpro under Bootcamp of my 8 core mac pro with 2 gig of RAM.
How much does the amount of RAM have to do on SE2 being able to handle 100 or more clips on a one hour timeline?
Should I add another 2 gigs and will it help with these annoying lockups? The system worked just fine before with SE1 and now I can hardly work with SE2 without it crashing.

Good News :D
I added 2 more Gigs of RAM. I've been editing all afternoon with no crashes or lock-ups!!!
The instructions are a bit vague as to how much of that additional RAM SE2 gets to use (possibly 1 gig or less), but the results are promising.

A little late Don, but FWIW, the SE2 seat on my XP Pro desktop VT5 system with 2 gig of RAM runs fine with projects up to two hours (pretty basic projects, nothing fancy). The second SE2 seat on the Win7 laptop with six gigs runs better.

I have a 15 minute project with gazillions of overlays and effects. I was crashing more often that it ran well until I started closing projects before rendering and doing the project in many sub-sectional stages, like a different project instead of subprojects on one timeline. It's a lot faster and more stable with a smaller project than with one monster.
