:help: I just installed LW 9.6, 64 bit version on a Win7 ult. machine and am stunned by what, to me, appears to be a tremendous slow-down in speed of all operations, just unselecting a poly can take several seconds. Mirroring or cloning can take minutes. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

go to your opengl settings and try different combinations, sounds like a video card / opengl problem

Well Duh. Many thanks Danner. I'd like to think I'd have thought of that myself eventually but I believe you've saved an aged and senile old man considerable brain strain.

I'm having the same problem. Brand new $9000 PC that runs slower than my 6-year old Dinosaur when in LW9 Modeler. I had ATI cards in it and it was crashing a lot too. I tried all the OpenGL settings and it didn't make any difference.
I just replaced the brand new ATI cards with a new Nvidia card and I get no more crashes and it probably runs about 20% faster than it was, but still 10 times slower than my old 32bit WinXP machine. The main slowdown is around selecting and deselecting points. It can take minutes to do what is instant/realtime on my old machine. :-(
I just downloaded the latest Nvidia driver and played with the OpenGL settings again, but still no joy. Left Mouse Button selecting multiple points in any viewport causes immense slowdowns and stallouts. As I drag the mouse across an object to select points, it goes into the "hourglass" mode with "Windows is not responding" for a few minutes and then it comes back with the points selected.
Right button "lasso" selecting does not seem to have the same problem.
Rendering speeds in Layout seem to be great but I lose any productivity gain in rendering speeds due to time lost in modelling... bummer. :-(
