For clarity i add this: i'd like rocks to fade in grass like this bitmap, but procedurally.

Actually you provided the answer with the image :)

Basically its about feeding a gradient to a crust texture diameter.

The surface attached does feature two overlayed crust textures, and a crackle node to slightly displace those crust shapes (Modify the bump amplitude to get a more natural look of the splotches)

certainly could be further enhanced,
