Logo: Lightwave Concept

ok, this the second posting of my work... crits and comments welcome :)

over at http://www.3dfightclubforum.com there was a challenge this weekend to recreate the Lightwave logo (or the logo of whatever package you use). I use Lightwave, so i created this image...

i was originally going to make one out of kinex, or lincoln logs, but then i thought "what if it were made of RIBBON!?!" lol

Nicely constructed image. However I think the logo looks more like it's made out of thin metal than ribbon (or were you joking about the ribbon - it's early in the morning here!).

The blur adds a lot to the image. Good stuff.

yea, i was kidding... its supposed to be a thin metal...

it was originally a ribbon, with just a strip of single sided polys, but then it didnt render very well, so i used Blocchi's Thickener to thicken it up enough to render well, turning it into a thin metal...

Nice treatment. I'd say Perspex more than metal. The overall look is a bit too blurred though.

Neat work.. curious though.. is it legal to copyright an image of someone else's trademark?
