When I drag a clip into the timeline and click the play button, the video playback is not smooth. It plays for about (1) second and then pause for about (1) second and repeats the process for the whole clip.

How do I get it to play back at realtime?

The Clips are .mts files from a video camcorder.

It did work for about 1 week without any problems.

Thanks

Tom.

Tom, goto the DXDIAG and post some system specs, is this SE2? Start > Run and type dxdiag in the run box. Be sure the WHQL box is checked bottom left.

BGrender, do you see a red line working by the play button? Is this system on the web and did you get an OS update from when it was working well?

Yes I do see a Red Line moving just below the time counter display. When I wait for the Red Line to finish I now get a smooth video. Thanks KiloWatkins for the tip!

I assume SpeedEdit is buffering the playback somewhere in memory. I'll review the documentation to see if it explains the rules about when you can click on the Play Button. Thanks again Tom.

Tom, I see from the # of your postings, you are new here. I do free U.S. phone calls for SE training and PC configurations. I do live MountainTime and doing the nonCensus this month. If interested in some OJT over the phone, send your number private and I can call and help with some of your questions. You did not say what OS you are running, but you should consider not using your editing system on the web, as updates can easily make your configuration go south. kilovideo@gmail.com

Don't be overwhelmed with SE, once you get some time and help with it, you will see it can help cut down some of your LW time.

BestWishes and....

find the clip in the file bin and "Convert to SPeedHQ"
