Hi,
I have moved over to Windows 7m 64 bit. As far as I can tell of the first days, LW works - apart from that the video render formats offered do not include quicktime.
Any advise?

Many thanks.

Best regards

Frank

A quick search would have shown you a dozen threads where this was explained already.

But, here goes again, as there is no Quicktime x64 there's also not going to be a Quicktime output option (same goes for codecs, a codec needs to be compiled specifically with 32 or 64 bit in mind)

(hope my reply doesn't sound too harsh.)

Many thanks for the (harsh -)) response. Please allow me then another question: Why do other professional softwares like Adobe After Effects provide Quicktime on 64bit?

maybe because after effects is 32bit!?
LightWave 32bit under 64bit OS can output quicktime if that helps.

Actually it is Adobe After Effects CS5, which is as I understand 64bit. The quicktime player also works on 64bit.

Quicktime player runs on 64bit just like any other 32bit application does but it is not actually 64bit. Look in your programs folders and you'll find QT installed in the x86 (32bit) folder, not the standard 64bit folder. All your other 32bit applications will also be in the x86 folder.

32bit apps cannot access 64bit plugins and vice versa.

I'm not sure how CS5 works but I know that there was a lot of concern about exporting to Quicktime as nobody else had managed it on 64bit. My guess is that, when you export to quicktime from within After Effects CS5, it actually transfers to a 32bit exporter...it cannot actually run natively as 64bit, it's impossible.

As you have access to AE, just render to frames from Lightwave and composite them in AE. It's a much safer workflow with regards to power cuts or crashes and you can render individual frames if needed.
