I paid. And waited for an email about the details to logon and join the webinar.. the hours went by and 5 minutes before the webinar would start, I got an email.
"Finally!" I clicked the link, only to be presented with a website where I had to download something. It turns out to be an application, specific to the webinar service provider they use. Ok.. hmm.. dumdidum... 5 minutes went by fast.. another 5.. and then a total of 13-15 minutes had gone by before I could even load their application.
Application launched, took me a few minutes, and then it finally gave me sound and video. Wohoo!! But no! 10-20 seconds into the stream, it stopped. WTF? It said "reconnecting audio...." Ok.. let's see if it does any good.. dumdidum.... Nope! 5 minutes of waiting for it to reconnect, and I refreshed the website to make it launch the application again.
And guess what - it had to download this stupid application AGAIN! JESUS CHRIST!! SAVE MY SOUL, now I'm pissed off..

Umm... what and how would you like us to feel about that?
Commiserate with you or...
No idea what went on but I do know: were I in your shoes I would be talking to the Kurv guys to rectify this. (Wes is the main contact guy, I believe.) All that can happen here is that you tarnish them and get a really good negative thread going.
We can feel with you but we can't fix it.

Well, I hate to add fuel to the fire, but I've about lost all patience for Kurv studios.
Bought a DVD back in December. Received the DVD, sound quality was awful. After repeated attempts to get a hold of Kurv/Wes, he finally got back to me and told me they were going to resample the audio and present it as a download. Cool. He said it would be within a week. After a month, I didn't hear anything so I wrote again. Wes said, should be within the week. Another 2 or 3 weeks go by, nothing. Wrote back. He said, oh you should have received it by now. No, I didn't. Can I just get a refund and get something else from Kurv instead. Sure, here's your RMA number to ship it back. Shipped it back. That was almost two months ago and have not been issued a refund. So I write Wes again not quite a week ago. Still have not heard back from him. Wow.
But I'm sure it's our fault. Maybe Wes can tel us again how cheap us Lightwavers are.

Sorry to hear you guys are having such pains with Kurv. I've bought about 14 DVD's and never had an issue. Well, once it took longer than usual so I wrote him an email. Got a reply the next day...and the disk also arrived that same day.
I have watched a few of the webinars. I did have problems with the first one getting the software set up. I had an hour before it started and I just barely got it up and running in time...then there was no audio. Got that fixed in the first fifteen minutes. And luckily it was a free webinar so no harm no foul.
But I guess everyone isn't going to have the same experience unfortunately.

Not necessarily. I attended a 3D Coat webinar some months back, and when I asked for a download, Kurv said no. Apparently it was a priced-down webinar, so didn't cover a download. Ticked me off because they never said anything about this limitation till after the webinar. Worth asking them though.

I am sorry you had trouble getting into the class, the file download would be an issue of GTW not KURV studios. Having said that, were running the same class again on Monday and Tuesday your welcome to jump in on that class... or we can refund your money today.
Either way, I am sorry you had trouble getting in. Today was the second day of the class... you already missed yesterdays (you registered today). So we were not really looking for new registrations on the class.
We got you in as soon as we saw the payment....
Let me know.

This was a class we did before we offered this option on all classes... if we did not offer it, why would you simply expect it?

What? I only got the e-mail this morning, and on the registration page it said only April 16.. Oh boy this is so confusing... Unfortunately I cannot attend tomorrow nor next week. Got work to do all over the place. First in Norway, and hopefully in Spain if the volcano can take a break.
Will there be a downloadable version available then? I believe the registration page stated something about download.

Don't burn your bridges...:)
Kurv is just about the only training studio offering lightwave based products and 3d coat products.
He's not on the scale of Digital Tutors so don't expect a huge multi storey office building full of staff running the facility...they're a much smaller outfit so if you can give them a little slack they do their best with the time/resources at hand.

I am not sure why you got the email today...
The reason it said April 16th was because the class was today. I actually emailed you from the doctors office this morning saying are you sure you want to attend, because this is part 2 of 2 and you missed part 1.
Bottom line here is this... I want you to be happy. I have already refunded you the money... I did my best to communicate with you this morning, you registered at 4am my time... sorry I was not up :).
I did not hear back from you so as soon as I was in front of the PC again, I approved you. The issues you had... I have not heard of before and we have several classes a month. Not saying it is you... I am saying this may be an isolated incident.
The system does have a small java download Dave... but I have never had anyone tell me it stalled and did not load.
But again, I refunded your money so the ball is in your court... Sorry you had a tough time, but like I said... (if anyone else is concerned now) we have class attendees that range from 20 - 800 and usually the issues are caused from bandwidth issues on the customer side. If you kill all other bandwidth applications like email, and skype... you should be fine.
The answer is YES. But it will be several weeks/ a month or more before the classes will be available. I missed (but paid for) both surface baking classes - but at least I know they will be available later for me to download. Just gotta wait.
Well I hope to have it done..... soon :P More careful now David....
But you also guarantee the lower price as well...

Very true... we don't have a big staff... :) just a few gerbils but were running as fast as we can :D

Every time you respond you dig yourself a deeper hole, contradicting yourself so consistently that it amazes me. I'm not going to even bother responding this time, but I'm done with Kurv. Sad, because you guys offer some good stuff.

Hey, at least you got a response Sekhar. I guess I'm just being ignored now.

Well first of all, I am assuming your the same person we had email conversations with months ago about this same issue. If not, then we need to talk because depending on the class, you may be entitled to a free download. :D
If you are the same person... this was when we were experimenting with different ways to boost classes. At first we were doing ultra cheap classes, and if you wanted the download, you paid for it. But the some classes were 2,3,5 and 10 bucks. Those did not have a download.
We started the downloads soon after these classes...
I am sorry you got in on these around that time. My point is the class in question did not have a free download option.
So how am I digging myself a hole... you bought a class at a ultra low price and you want the download free while others paid for it?
Why should we give you a free class?
Hey, at least you got a response Sekhar. I guess I'm just being ignored now.
Steve, no sorry sir, I missed your post...
Getting you handled today, sorry for the delay. I would have responded faster had the info not come through the NewTek PM system. sorry about the delay.

And how is this? You paid for the webinar and AT THE TIME there was NO free download. Yet you WANT the download NOW for free? I'm glad I don't have customers like you - no wait a minute... I do. There is ALWAYS someone who wants something for nothing. :jester:
Megalodon, don't bash a fellow LWer without knowing the facts. I wound't do that to you.

Well, I would appreciate that Wes. Yes, I hear you about the info coming through the Newtek PM system. But I shouldn't have to pm you to make the return happen which I did based on your instructions.

Why not? You're bashing Wes who provides LOTS of help and training to ALL LWer's. And you haven't shown ANYTHING here that says you should get something for nothing. If YOU want to bash Kurv, then YOU should provide proof of purchase AND when you purchased the webinar. I'm sure you still have your PayPal receipt and the date and title of the webinar? Let us know. I've got all of the emails from Kurv and they state whether or not the webinar can be downloaded for free or not.ou brought it up IN THE FORUM - now it's up to you to prove it one way or another.
Megalodon, you have no freaking idea what you're talking about. See this thread (www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104321) from December last year.

I remember that thread very well. No where in the email we received did it say that you would get the download of the webinar for free. What part of that do you not understand? Kurv did not institute the free download till AFTER that time. Kurv is a VERY small organization and he does his best to get things done and done well.
Sekhar - you do NOT get that download for free since it was never offered. Proof in the email below.
You just don't get it, do you? The issue isn't that I didn't get the download for what I paid - I fully appreciate that they may not cover both for the low price. But my ire was that he never told me that in spite of my multiple emails over 4+ weeks until it came up in the thread.
The point that this is a new practice and that downloads were not covered by default is total BS. As Kurv explained in the older thread in response to me, explaining the 4 week delay:
"As far as the emails after... the time delay was for us to see if this webinar was one that we did in fact offer a free download after. It was not. We priced it lower so yes if you want a copy you would need to buy it."
If this was a new practice, why exactly did Kurv take 4 weeks to see "if this webinar was one that we did in fact offer a free download after?"

Megalodon, I don't care what you think. :D We both have better things to do anyway. :agree:

Mainly because you were asking about a webinar from over a month or more ago at the time.
We had to try to look at past marketing and figure out if it was offered or not. We were truly trying to help you.
I think we actually replied with... "the free option was not offered on that" and you pressed the issue, so we had to try to go find past marketing from over a month ago...

No, you never responded to my question (if I could get the download) at all till the issue came up in the forum, and that was my gripe. Anyway, no worries - this is certainly not worth dragging on. In the end, I did enjoy the presentation.

Wes also told me I could watch the rebroadcast of the class I missed (LW surface baking), but I haven't been sent the links to watch again. I paid, I called, I wrote emails, I sent a copy of PayPal receipt, called again, wrote again. Sat by the computer unable to log on to the webinar he's described above. Frustrating not to get any answer when contacting Kurv, but at least I'm finding info in this discussion.
Come to think of it, an older 3D brush webinar hasn't been made available either.
Well I must not have received your email... I have answered all my emails to date... what is your email address I will email you...
