View Full Version : LiveStream Premium for Single Day Event?

This is slightly off topic, but I know several users here use LiveStream with the TriCaster.

We've been using the paid version of uStream (Watershed) for a while for clients who want ad-free live streaming services. We're on the Pay as You Go Pricing plan instead of a Monthly Plan.

So for a 1 hour event that has 3,000 viewers, the client has to pay 3,000 viewer hours X $.75 = $2,250.

I am wondering if anyone has used LiveStream.com's Premium package for a simple single-day event. I know LiveStream's premium packages are paid monthly, but would there be anything stopping a user for signing up for a month and then cancelling? I don't see anything in the ToS about a cancellation fee?

The reason I ask is that for $350 per month, it includes 3,000 viewer hours.

So Watershed would cost $2250 and LiveStream would cost $350 ... both for 3,000 viewer hours.

The questions I need to look into are:

1) Would LiveStream be able to handle a single event with 3000 viewers ... or are the accounts only setup to handle those 3000 viewer hours over the entire month.

2) Would LiveStream have an issue with this? Obviously they would like the client to continue paying monthly, but is it against their ToS?

3) Is there truly no LiveStream cancellation fee?

I've tried posing these questions with LiveStream but I haven't found a straight answer.

Does anyone have experience or suggestions?

Thanks

Brian

Thanks, rally1.

I have an email in to Livestream to answer some of my questions. I couldn't find a phone number for sales, so I guess I'll have to live with email for now.

Brian, are you by chance going to NAB?
The last couple years the number of CDN's and stream options at NAB has at least doubled their presence.
I anticipate this year will be the same or likely greater.

I've had the opportunity to meet & interview many of the smaller companies owners and top people at NAB. It's always great to hear their thoughts on the industry and share my thoughts as well.

Even if you can't make it, keep up on all the latest news from these companies this time of year. Just don't get caught up in all the fluff and vaporware! :D
Best of luck.

Ted,

Yeah, I'll be there. But with a quick Monday afternoon / Tuesday morning window at NAB before a baseball broadcast back in Central Illinois on Wednesday, time at NAB is next-to-none.

But I'll do my best to scope out some CDNs.

Thanks

Brian

They have taken over a big area, I "think" in the North Hall. I could be wrong though.
You can go on the NAB site and register to get information on any number of vendors.
