I'm experiencing a frustrating dilemma, and I'd appreciate any suggestions. I'm in the process of editing down a live performance. In the process of syncing up video from 3 cameras, I'm also syncing/blending 4 separate audio tracks.
My main audio track was obtained by sending the house mixer's output to a submixer, which in turn routed it to my Stand alone Dv deck.
In the course of splicing, trimming, adjusting these different audio tracks, it's having a negative effect on the video playback. Everytime I splice and adjust an audio track, the video stutters several moments upon playback. Even if I "undo" the change I made, the video will no longer play back smoothly.

I'm running the VT5 and have saved the project on both my raid array and an external drive. I thought maybe the problem was a speed issue and might only be occurring on my external; however, it occurs at both locations.

Any suggestions? I've noticed over the course of the last several months that my machine has been progressing slowing down. Is there any effect in Speed Edit that might counteract this annoyance?
Thanks

Did you check Pref's Offset, and I disable both. Sounds like you need to use a ForceRender or if you system is fast enough, BGrender All. Systems that slow down, well there could be several issues, but you did not post your system specs. Your post of a project on an external, if the video sources are on the external ok. If not, then it is just VTP data pointing to sources. If your are cutting and keeping/deleting layers, where is the VT cache located, and how are you saving mods in Prefs? Every minute? I looked in your profile and was going to email and call you.

Why dont you just get all of the video sync'd up with all of the audio tracks, keep the house mix and dump the rest of the audio? If you want one of the live audio tracks to mix in for ambience, then select that track and render a wave file of it. Get it off of the timelinee until the edit is done and then add it back.

Of course, without knowing your specs, I have no idea if it is a computer deficiency of power.
