Hi guys....i wonder if someone can point out where im going wrong here.

Im exporting an custom sized animation from after effects with alpha to stick into SpeedEdit (1.5). The entire sequence is 2 minutes long, however when i render it out....speededit wants not to do with the A channel. I've tried both matted and unmatted from AE....nether will play niclely.

Ok.....nows here the head to desk part....

Just to speed my trouble shooting up, i've exported a couple of 4second renders of my animation....one unmatted....one matted. And SpeedEdit has everso kindly decided it will see the alpha from the clip.

Put simply...theres no difference between my full render and my short trouble shooting renders bar the lengh. 2min render for the full......4 secs for the shorter one.

So...what on earthhhhh is going on? I know my full render has Alpha because AE can see it. SpeedEdit howeverrrr. Could it be strugling with the file size? I left it for 2 mins to see if it was just having a seriously good think about the alpha.....but to no aveal.

Helppppppp meeeee....

Matt :D

Hi Sheepy,

I'm not sure if you know about file bit depths, but have you tried saving your AE file as a 32bit file type?

In AE I believe it would be described as "millions of colours +" in the channels section of the output module.

Take special note of the "+" as this will ensure that the file that's created will include the alpha channel.

Ofcourse this all depends on the codec your using. I'd suggest rendering your animation out using the SpeedHQ codec instead of uncompressed as it's a LOT quicker to edit in SpeedEDIT and has a much smaller file size. You also don't really lose too much in image quality.

Hope this helps
