My project preset is NTSC 720p 60, I render an avi for tricaster and its fine, the file size is quite large so out of SE 2.0 I render an m2v file but in tricaster I get a black box around it. I have to take the avi file into tricaster media editor and render an m2v file to not have the black border. How can I render an m2v file from SE 2.0 witout a black border.

Test a short render, by going into the custom setting, then open the drop down menu the is probably defaulted to Boxed.

Need more information. You render in AVI and it works using what preset? You render in m2v and get black border using what preset?
I am also curious as to why are you working in a 720P project when the final delivery will be SD? Unless I am doing dual delivery, I would make the project the exact end delivery size that way what you see is what you get all the way through.
For the record, I just made a test and it renders just fine using the DVD presets out of SE 2.

The mpeg file that I get from my tricaster studio is at 720p. I'm not sure how to change that setting to SD. Does it have to do with the MPEG Profile check box in the record tab in TC? As for my AVI I render my avi using the Project Size preset. I've tried all the others and this preset does not come with the black border, it is a larger file size.

720P is know as 1280x720 progressive and one of the two HD resolutions. That means you have a XD300?
