GH House Render Showcase...where's the LW images?

Wondering how we can get more involvement of our ArchViz talented LWers to show what LW can do.
Of all images, none were form LightWave.

Without knowing the specifics of this particular gig ...

... knowing about the site & challenge would be a good place to start.
From my point of view I don't see anything there that's overly mind blowing/amazing (unless it was done in under 5 hrs :D ) & couldn't be done to the same standard & beyond with good ol LW/FP/KRAY.

Well, our talented archviz LWlers earn money with their work, so they have not that much time. Max and vRay users are mostly hobbyists so they have enough time to fiddle around with their software to get a decent picture :neener:

LOL. Agree. We are way too busy to mess with those - they would be fun though. It is unfortunate that many of us LW arch viz companies have been silent lately. The last few years have been tough and the "good looking" projects have been much thinner than before.

We'll be putting up our new site in the near future with some of our more recent work. I'll let everyone know.

I'm assuming the rest of the arch viz folks have been silent for same reasons? Hope they are still around.

Likewise. Seeing that kind of image usually makes me want to go and experiment, except I never have the time. I really, really like the exterior shot from this guy:

Sure it could be done in Lightwave - maybe - and if you want to dissect it you might find something to criticize (although in these cases, it's usually "nah, that helmet is too yellow" or "that gravel isn't the right type for the concrete slabs they're using") but it has such a wonderful mood. Of course I could never show something like that to one of our clients(*), cos they usually want their buildings squeaky-clean and entirely unrealistic... but as a work of "art", it's pretty damn good I think.

Hey all,

It's nice to see a discussion about the GH House Challenge here...

I'm pretty sure I posted about this challenge in this forum too, inviting all of you LW users too... I actually aimed for users om many application to take part... in the end it seems 3dsmax+VRay is very dominant among Archviz people.

I don't think the "I work, no time for play" argument is valid in this case... many of the participants were working professionals. Some started and didn't finish because of work and it's perfectly ok :-)

The point is to take part, see what other do with the apps and learn from it.

I really hope LW users will join the next challenge expected around June-July... I'm looking forward to see what you can do!

Yeah that is a standout & very nicely done & you're right in that we don't see it that often in LW, but not beyond a few people here / kray forums I imagine.

Apologies if we did get a heads up here Ronen ... perhaps with the recent drive for more quality LW exposure there might be room for a separate place where folks might post such upcoming comps / events / showcases / challenges etc.

...and you are right, actually having a go & mixing it with other folks/apps is one of the best aspects about these types of challenges.

Good luck for the upcoming one & hope to see some LW in there perhaps :thumbsup:
