View Full Version : "Send To Analog/SDI Tape" - audio goes 2 frames ahead

When I try to record from SpeedEdit (VT 5.3) to Betacam (Sony BVW 75P) with "Send To Analog/SDI Tape" function, then audio goes out from SpeedEdit 2 frames too early.
No matter how I set-up "Print To Tape Latency Frame Offset" in Preferences, audio always goes 2 frames ahead from video.
When I play this same project normally from SpeedEdit, audio and video are played in sync.
Is there a reason that audio goes early when using "Send To Analog/SDI Tape"?
I send audio and video through analog outputs.
Thanks for any answer,
Alan

Are you making this "2-frame video delay" assessment via the use of analogue audio monitoring gear, while looking at a display connected to a digital output on your graphics card? Just curious.

I made this assessment via the use of my analogue audio monitoring gear, while looking at JVC professional CRT monitor connected to VT's component analog output.
When I wanted to be sure how much it's out of sync I recorded video on Beta tape and watched the result by "jogging" the tape.
The picture was synced with sound when I recorded to Beta by simply pressing Play in VT5 but when I used "Send To Analog/SDI Tape" then the sound starts 2 frames too early.

Same problem here we delay our layoff by three frames to ensure perfect sync.
