Will the .MOV files the JVC 700 camera saves in work in SE 2.0? I know the JVC cam will also save as XDCAM EX files .mp4 but the job was already shot as .MOV Quicktime files which I found out is really an XDCAM EX file wrapped into a .MOV Quicktime file.

If they were recorded as the XDCAMEX format they should work in SpeedEDIT. If they were recorded in Pro Res They will not work.

They were recorded Quicktime MOV XDCAM EX 720p60 35Mb/s VBR

The JVC700 doesn't save standard Quicktime files. It saves XDCAM EX files wrapped with a Quicktime wrapper.

Zane, could you PM me an ftp link that I could upload a sample clip for NewTek to try out on SE2 and let me know if these clips work in SE? If it does, I will buy the upgrade just to save this nightmare of a job. Thanks!

Zane says the file works in SE2 so if anyone need to edit the Quicktime files from the JVC700 camera you can edit with SE2.

My client seems to think he can edit these with Premier CS4 but I really doubt it will work in that editor. SO if I need to edit these file I will buy SE2 upgrade.

Thanks for testing it out Zane!

I've got a demo JVC GYHm100U, I've shot some test clips in both QTHD and Mp4 in SE1.5 neither will load. Even if I move the clips to my HDD off the cards. I can't drag them to the TL or use Add Media, it does nothing. Do I have to have 2.0 to use these files?

Thanks,
Dom

NewTek says they work in 2.0 I just installed my 2.0 and will test them out and report back.

I tested the Quicktime HD files that the JVC700 recorded and they dropped right onto the time line and play flawlessly on my new i7 system running SE2.0 on Windows 7

I don't have the MP4 files to test.

Rich,
I did a test record in 1280x720HD as Mp4. The quicktime logo shows up on the file icon, I dragged it to the timeline and it worked in 1.5 I was able to render out in the file however I needed and it looks good. I've got 2.0 but haven't loaded it yet because I was in the middle of some projects. Glad to hear in 2.0 it will see the QT native files.

Cheers,
Dominic
