View Full Version : Reconnect clips
Okay here is situation: I edit under the Edit Media mode using portable drive for scrap drive which is assigned G: as the drive, everything works great. I save and go away...then I get back reconnect the same drive which is now assigned E: drive. Under Edit Media I get red over some edited clips because I believe it can't find G....how can I reconnect the edit to view the scrap files???? Aggravating!!

how can I reconnect the edit to view the scrap files? In your particular case, the easiest thing to do would be to change the drive letter assignment for the drive back to "g", using the normal Windows XP tools to do so (right-click on My Computer, select Manage, then select Disk Management, right-click on the e drove to change it's letter).
Otherwise, you would have to manually use the Inherit feature, dropping the 'new' source clip (the original clip but in it's 'new' location) onto the originals in the project - one by one. In the full version of SpeedEDIT, you'd have several other and better methods, but Edit Media is a simplified version and doesn't provide these tools, sorry.
Thanks went into XP and changed drive letter...thanks! I suppose there's no way of keeping that setting all the time is there?

The Spreadsheet lets you change file paths, and there's a Preferences menu item to do with the search path for missing assets.
