You need to have something to build the Liveset in, a 3D package - LightWave 3D.

The names of the various products can be a little confusing, but you actually can create a LiveSet in the standalone "NewTek LiveSet Constructor".

It's pretty limited, but can have a background and a foreground (such as a 32 bit image of a desk). The video stream it is assigned to will appear between the two, and if LiveMatte is applied to the video source, you will see the bg behind it. No shadows, reflection, etc...

Where do you find that package NewTek LiveSet Constructor?

In my personal Registration>Downloads area of the website, it's listed as "NewTek SkyBox LiveSet Constructor VT[5] added 11-15-2007" in my VT[5] area.

I don't see it anywhere on the public ftp server. My TC is not registered (no, I didn't steal it ;) ), but it should be listed in the same place if you have a registered TC. (If it's not, let us know!)

(Again, just to highlight it, this is very basic tool, doesn't allow any scaling or positioning, for instance.)

Steve, You are correct that the live set constructor is in the downloads area under TriCaster Pro.

When you need to create an "emergency" live set, the "Very basic tool" can do some pretty amazing things, especially If you can do all your perspectives etc in Photoshop or where ever.

Is it possible to build a new 3d set not just an image for tricaster?

Say build it in lightwave and import it?

Or does tricaster only use images in the first place? I do no know about tricaster but a possible employer wants a new set for it.

Please let me know how this works and what to do to acheive that goal.

Say build it in lightwave and import it?The short answer is that there is a (free) LiveSet Generator plugin for LW that can create a completely new custom set with two video inputs.

OOoo that may be the ticket.. I will look into it!

What about Shadows, and Reflections?

Will the new toolset allow these to be created...from per "Live" source or synthetically.

Also can this new toolset create more that just two live planes "A" - "B" from Live sources...can we create 3, 4 or more?

I know that depending on the tricaster/VT...will determine the number of possible live sources.
Here are a few examples...

1) Needing to have a talent with monitor shot (with live video in the monitor)
but we need to be able to wipe from on live source to a different source in the monitor...then zoom out or take to that source full.

2) needing to use multiple monitors..with different sources live...along with talent.

3) Using a bkg from a life shot/DDR, with vitural set pieces...the talent...and monitor(s)
An example of this is like someone in a car...or spaceship traveling...

These are just a few reasons...

Cheers,

Hi,
last week we received the new XD300 and after exchanging 2! defect memory units it is slowly starting to work. Before that we had several BSoDs, to the point it wouldn't even boot properly anymore. We contacted the retailer who did send us replacement memory. But after all, it was after all a completely new Unit and it díd boot the first times. However there was some hot glue on the memory and after running some tests it was proven that both RAMs had several errors and were corrupted.
Perhaps we were just unlucky?

Last year we were still running a Tricaster Broadcast but after seeing the announcement for the XD300 we were certain to do the upgrade and didn't bother to register the Broadcast. So now I can't see the Liveset Constructor in my Tricaster Registration and wanted to ask if you would be so kind to also mail me?
Hope we will be able to soon make use of its full capability.

Regards

The LiveSet contructor does not work with TCXD300. We are offering a beta program for the new tools details can be found here http://newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106294.

Ah didn't think that through. I already read somewhere that those old Livesets wouldn' work with the XD300 but in my mind I was still able to import them :)
I have read the post about the Beta before but wasn't sure if I had a chance since one of the conditions was having developed Livesets before...
But as we are not in possesion of a Lightwave license and did not register the Broadcast this is a little bit like a dog chasing it's own tail.
We have done quite a few 3D Construction though, should I try to mail or don't bother at all? I could also include some of the work.
What do you think? Thanks for the help as always.

Greetings

I want to modify an existing set. I already have the Live Set Constructor programme and Adobe PS 4 for an image editing software. Specifically, I wish to change the view that is in the windows that are part of the live set background, and I have taken a few very nice pictures looking out of the windows of our palacial suite and across the Bay. I wish to incorporate that view into the windows of the set.

But how do I go about accomplishing this?

So far all I have found in the image librairy of the Tricaster is a folder containing rather small and rather grainy renditions of the live sets and they are not layered, as I expected. Should they be layered, and why are they so grainy and at such a low resolution? Am I supposed to be working with those images or a different set of images?

Anyone's help is much appreciated. Thanks.

You cannot modify the sets that ship on TriCaster. They are compiled effects. What model TriCaster do you have? If you have a TCXD300 or TCXD850 you can use TriCaster Virtual Set Editor http://www.newtek.com/tricaster/tricaster_tcxd850.php?pnl=1_10 to modify the sets that come with the Editor. If you have a Standard Def TriCaster you can use LightWave and our LiveSet plugin to modify the Lightwave Scenes that the sets are based on.

... and why are they so grainy and at such a low resolution? To answer this part of your question, those images are simply the thumbnails used for icons.

Where 's the best place on the Internet for me to get Live Set plughin for Lightwave, which version should I get, and what is the difference between the plugin and the Live Set Constructor program?

We have a Studio 350 and we are currently producing 720x360 video with it. Not bad for an older unit with analogue camera inputs. hee-hee

Okay I got a look at Lightwave, and it doesn't look like anything I could quickly get into for editing a virtual set. I'm floored by the enormous learning curve this might represent from the get-go, and this rarely ever happens with me with software.

Somebody please point me in the right direction of wher I can essentially get started editing and modifying the virtual sets I need. It has to be simpler than this.

It has to be simpler than this.Well, would that it were. You can create simple sets (background and one video input) using the LiveSet Constructor, easy peasy. After that, it gets more complex pretty quickly.

The two tools available for SD class LiveSets are Aura (if you can find it, or have a VT) and LW. There a LS plugins for each, but both have a 'not insignificant' learning curve.

Aura sounds good and worth checking into. I see that is available thru C-Net, that is if of course I'm looking at the Aura we're talking about. Would it be able to cerate the needed VSFX files that will work with the TC 350?

this is my first post in this group. I am in Brazil and bought a Tricaster Studio. It is not registered and I need the Live-set Constructor program. If it is not registered, it won't run - at least not for very long. Also, you'll have no access to updates that may have been issued. Perhaps the system was purchased second-hand? If so, you should try to get the ownership of the unit transferred to you properly (which would merely require a properly documented sale). Customer Service can help you with that.

I do not understand why it is so dificult to get the Liveset Constructor program. It is free, so far I saw and I used it before. But after a necessary Restore I can not find it anymore. Customer Service gave me a new License Key for my TC Studio. But the machine is registered, probably to another person (my TC is a second hand machine). So I can not register it to my account and also I do not have access to updates and downloads. Customer Service said that Liveset Constructor is not free.
Would be nice if anybody can help me. I think this program is a stand-alone. Perhaps it is possible to send it to me.
Thanks
Carlos

But the machine is registered, probably to another person (my TC is a second hand machine). So I can not register it to my account and also I do not have access to updates and downloads. Customer Service said that Liveset Constructor is not free.Interesting that CS provided an unlock code for the system. To transfer the system to your name would simply require proof of sale (to avoid unwittingly transferring ownership of a system that had been stolen, which presumably is not a problem in this case). You really should pursue transfer of the registration, as without an account you will not have access to important software updates that came along after your system originally shipped.

Apart from that, as I understand it, the original “TriCaster LiveSet Constructor" is a free download for registered owners (a similar download is provided for registered VT owners). This tool is easy to use, although somewhat limited in the type of sets it can be used to create. I can understand that people would be reluctant to breach license and copyright requirements by supplying it to someone they don't know, but if you like, you can email me (sbowie at newtek doht com) and I will put you in touch with our regional sales people covering your area, who might be able to assist you to resolve the registration problem.

Sure. You need to go to your personal Registration area, log in to your account, then go to the downloads page and you should see it listed there, along with other items:

Does anyone know how to do separate background mattes for each camera (3) so that when the cameras are switched it looks like you are viewing a different part of the entire background (like outside at a waterfront, etc.)?

I have the Tricaster Pro unit - or if there is a PDF instruction sheet that you can put me on to that would be great.

Thanks!
