Hi guys,

I just bought the SE 2 upgrade. The machine with SE 1.5 has been decomissioned for a long time now and don't know if I can install the upgrade directly in a new machine I recently aquired. Any ideas?

Yes, you can, although you won't have the DVEs available if you do it this way.

If you have VT5 or SE1 DVEs on another computer you can copy them over though.

4GB was just too much for a download.

Thank you John!

There are 2 DVE folders, btw. 1 has all the old ntsc and pal, SD dve's. There is another DVE folder that are converted for HD/HDV.

fyi

That's actually incorrect.

There are DVEs (these are the multi-gigabyte ones) and Transitions.

They are completely different and only the DVEs are missing from the downloadable update.

Hmm.... I will go downstairs and look at these 2 folders again, and post the date and filesizes. They were posted when EWK noticed and asked for someone to fix them.

I just bought SE2 too. What is the BEST way to install? Should I install version 1, 1.2,1.5.1,1.5.5 and then 2.0?

I prefer the cleanest install and don't mind starting at beginning since I deleted it already. Thanks!

2.0 is a full install, no need to install 1.xxx

Let me qualify Zane's statement: The SE2.0 downloadable upgrade does not include the DVE's, you may need these from your SE1 or VT5 install.

So you have basically four choices:

Install SE1 (and all the patches if you intend to use it), install the SE2 upgrade and then you'll have both plus DVE's.

or

You can copy the SE1 DVEs to a safe place, uninstall SE1 then install the SE2 upgrade.

or

Install the SE2 upgrade, then copy the DVEs from another machine.

or finally

Install the SE2 upgrade and don't use DVEs. Many people just do cuts and fades anyway. Saves you over 4GB of drive space.
