I was told by my dealer that the XD300 has a Preview channel output but that output was a DVI/HDMI output. If so, is the XD300 capable of assigning the Preview output to the EFX bus as the Broadcast version can? I'm thinking that if the output can "see" the efx bus I should be able to find an HDMI to composite converter to take that selectable signal to a composite recorder for recording slo-mo which I prefer over the DDRs and Time Warp. With a couple of six input verticle interval switchers on the front end, I could set up a six input XD300 running SD for football. It would be almost the same as my current TCB.

I want the XD300 for in-studio HD chromakey but location SD production. If this idea works, I could have the best of both worlds in one box while waiting for an XD version to come out with six inputs.

Program
Preview
Effects
Preview + Program
Preview + scopes
A monitor bridge showing Cam 1-2, PGM, PRV, DDR, Stills, Titles and a clock.

Steve,

Can a composite signal be broken out of the VGA or does it have to be transcoded?

It has to be transcoded. The "VGA output" is the same DVI/HDMI output that your dealer referred to.....

Am I correct in understanding that there is only one VGA output? In other words, if I want to run program output to a projector, I lose the bridge monitor (or any other configuration option)?

Or is there still a dedicated program output for projector purposes?
