In the image I've attached I have two arrows, one blue the other red. Now when I use Move in Layout the object moves along the blue arror axis. Now what I want is the object to tranform/move along the red arror axis which would be the normal pos if i'm right. There should be away for me to move it directly along this axis with moving down in y then forward in x or whatever axis i want to move along. Any ideas if Layout will allow this. I'm sorry I'm still getting used to LW from XSI where this was a common function performed...thanks!

No, you cannot do that natively in LW. Moving something along its up vector would require it being attached to a parent object. Just add a Null for the rotation and parent your Box to it and you will get what you need. In case you have any further problems take a look at which coordinate systems your movement is referring to. It's under Layout->Coordinate system.

I tried that but the Null still will only move along the xyz axis and not on a vector? Am i missing something?

In XSI it was moving along a normal....like moving along the normal of a certain polygon or face....

Ah ha! I switched to local on the coor. system and it worked. Thanks mate!

If you are in world or parent space and want to move in local space you can hold down the Ctrl key before dragging the axis vector widgets to temporarily switch into local space. Handy.

Note the display of the trident doesn't change in that case, but the movement is local.
