Even though I have only upgraded uptil LW6 (I am currently running 6.5b), I want to take advantage of the 7.5 to 8+DFX upgrade from the first version I initially bought which was version 5.0.
Question is where do I find my LW 5.0 serial? I remember 5 and 5.5 license keys were tied to the ID generated by the hardware key just like 6.0. Do I need to provide that Hardware ID number in order to upgrade to 7.5?
thanks

The serial number should be on the box and on the hardware key.

well the packaging that i received 5.0 in has been missing in action for about 4 years due to moving around and the outside of the hardware key is worn out so the number is hardly readable.
I forgot to mention i bought 5.0 in 1997 and have moved countless number of times.
There was a plugin a while back that could give one the hardware key ID. Anyone know where I could find that?

oops spoke too soon and I should have done my research before asking the dumb *** question.
I just found a old utlity that gives the hardware lock ID attached to ones machine:
Found the utility from the website of Pontari Productions (anybody remember them). They used to develop a plugin for Lightwave called Super Glow back in the day.

There's an utility on this page called getid.exe available for download.

See my response in the Community section. The serial will be the same for 5.x and 6.x, it's the license key that changes.
