Hey all. I finally received my LW/DFX+ bundle package today!!!

I've installed both apps. I've registered my LW w/ NewTek and am awaiting my Auth code. I'm assuming NewTek personnel don't work evenings. Not a biggie. I can wait. A bit;)

Install went pretty well but getting the dongle to be recognized in XP Pro was a pain. All seems to be well now. Since I'm waiting on the Auth code LW is running in Demo mode. So is DFX+ since it's reliant on LW's dongle and licensing.

I'm curious if the Hub works in Demo mode. If I start Layout or Modeler the hub does not appear in System Tray. If I manually execute the Hub it will appear in Sys Tray but I can't really do anything with it (ie. Launch).

Also, there is suppose to be a License.key file in the Programs folder. I didn't find any at time of install so I created one so I can add license # when NewTek emails it to me. According to manual this file should be in Programs/LightWave_Support but there is no such folder. I simply placed the License.key file in the root of LightWave/Programs. Is this correct?

TIA.

That's odd - it sounds like the install hasn't worked properly or there's a problem with the dongle or Sentinel drivers...

You should get a 14 day trial period in which to use LightWave whilst waiting for your licence key - also, DFX+ doesn't care whether your LightWave is licensed or not - it just looks for the dongle - if they're both running in demo mode then the dongle hasn't been found...

You have to register DFX+ with Eyeon. then you'll get a .DAT file to put in your DFX+ directory and it should run in "normnal mode".

Remember these steps when installing for the first time (or after rebuilding, etc.)

+ Install Sentinel drivers (I always download them from the Rainbow website).

+ REBOOT

+ Put dongle in the machine and it should be "found" -- a little *ding* sound, some "found new hardware" stuff and it should be fine.

+ Now install LW (I always do a custom install and DO NOT check the Sentinel drivers option!)

You should be good to go after this.

Okay, thanks all.

I thought something was fishy. I will uninstall everything and start over. LW does give me a 4 digit dongle number at the momoent. I'll see if it changes once i've done a reinstall.

That's it! It was the install order that was causing the problem. I uninstalled everything and followed the steps provided by mrunion and all is well now. Methinks NewTek need to update their install guide in the manual...

Anyway, I'm a happy camper now!:D
