When i plug into audio in xlr 1&2 and use 1/4 jack audio out to a "stand alone"mpg recorder/player (leightronix Nexus) for a lptv station it has a loud buzz?
Is there an audio out in the back of the TC we could use instead ?
where can we get a diagram for the back and front of the TC to explain what the buttons and inputs are dedicated to?
Just bought a used TC pro and got the single reference book.
addition;we get the hum or buzz even without going out to any stand alone equipt.
using a wired lav audio technica xlr, worked with makie board and vt5 & sx-84 board in the past? audio settings are mic 1&2 /no gain

Have you contacted Technical support? They are available 7 days a week.
Also, beside the network/keyboard/mouse, there are no TriCaster-related ports on the back you could use.

I've had difficulties with getting good levels into my TriCaster Studio. Eventually, I added a small external mixer (Behringer MX 802A) to feed my inputs and control output back to my powered audio monitors.

still get a bad humm even with both xlr's un-plugged from the TC -meaning with no "audio in" hooked into the TC ,but with 1/4 jack plugged in for "audio out" to a video/audio recorder.
just tested it straight to a tv monitor and the humm is still present.

the problem with "humm" is only with live audio out - prerecorded DDR Brolls are not affected by this problem

working on the humm problem i've narrowed it down to anytime i insert a 1/4 jack into line out l/r. we get a humm with or with out cameras hooked up. the humm is present as soon as it's plugged in to the "line out". this is without any microphones being in place.

Is your 1/4in plug on your cable a tip-sleeve or tip-ring-sleeve?
And from the tricaster where are you routing the audio?
The connectors for the Tricaster audio out are balanced tip-ring-sleeve so if you next piece of gear in line can accept a balanced audio signal them make sure you are using the correct cable setup.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this problem. Seems to have been solved by having the Tricaster plugged in to the same power source as the Nexus (our mpeg 2 player).
The only issue now is how to best hook up the balanced out sound from the tricaster to the unbalanced in sound on the Nexus (RCA input).
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

First off, are your using shielded cable on the 1/4 inch hookup? In short runs you should be able to use unbalanced 1/4 or RCA connectors provided the audio cable is shielded. I'd advise against adapters if possible. Keep the unbalanced cable away from transformers and other equipment and it should be fine. Plugging the two units into the same circuit is always best because two different circuits could have a very small potential difference at the ground causing a ground loop or hum. I had cable TV coming into the studio on an RG6 with an F connector attached to the same monitor as my production editor was attached. I had audio hum. I finally tracked it down to the RG6 cable. I had to leave it disconnected when I was doing production.
