has anyone ever wrapped a string or tape around an object. kind of like a mummy would be wrapped. any tutorials or experience would be appreciated. i don't think i can get the desired look with texturing.

I might take another crack at texturing. Actually trying to model something by wrapping will be no fun. If it were me, I might try a combination of texturing and modeling. Model some areas that are where the wrap is bunched up or hanging off the model but texture the rest. Unless you're going to be unwrapping him in an animation, there's no reason to model something that isn't going to be used that way.

you might want to send onslaught a pm, have a look in the wip gallery for new ninja charachter, on the legs hes made it look like they're wrapped in bandages, maybe he'll give you some advice

Yeah, went and looked his stuff up, pretty cool. Funny that they were both ninjas with bandages. :cool:

I'd probably cut in the polys to the shape of the bandages that I need and then just bevel them a few times.
So if you wanted to have a leg bandaged. Just model the leg in basic form and then slice some polys in at angles that bandages would be wrapped at. Select thos polys and bevel away.
