I wrote up a tutorial on getting LW models and environments into Unity and setting up basic FPS controls. You can find it in the November LW newsletter:

Many thanks, Phil!
I didn't recognize you at first, as you have different avatars in 3D-Coat and Unity forums. Not that I am as vocal as you in the forums, but I've followed your endeavors, you seem to push the right buttons somehow workflow-wise etc.

You're welcome. Sorry about the avatars I try to keep avatars the same across the board but at one point everyone started using cats here. This one is my cat Molly who liked sitting in the bathtub at one point. hehe Plus the one I've been using it's very old, one of my first character models, so I think I'm starting to change to my orc sculpture for most forums. I've already switched it on CGTalk.
Fantastic!
Thanks!
I think you forgot to mention that in the FBX import panel you need to change the Scale Factor to 1 (default is .01 as shown in your pdf).

I didn't forget because this is the first I've heard of it. I didn't do that and it worked fine for me. Maybe with your tip it will work better than fine. I'll have to look into it.
BTW a new Unity update was released today, I just heard via Twitter.
When I was exporting in modeler, I imported into Unity and dropped the model into the editor and I couldnt see it. Because it was a 1mm cube now, because it was scaled down .01.
It was supposed to be a 1 meter cube. So I set the ScaleFactor to 1 so my 1 m in LW matched 1 unit in Unity.
I think I'll be using Layout export in the future, or perhaps Rom's tool :)

Yes you should use Layout, that was a step in the tutorial. I heard that exporting from Modeler doesn't work right so I was sure to say "bring it into Layout and export".

I tried the tutorial. It was very helpful. Thanks. I am having one problem however. When I press play to test out the Unity "game" my camera falls through the floor. I did add a mesh collision object to the mesh that represents the room. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

Hmm, did you place the First Person Controller above the floor, if it's touching the floor the collision might not work.

That was indeed my problem. I placed the controller higher above the floor and also reduced it's size. How it works just fine. Thanks.

We might be using Unity in the future, does anyone know how/when Rom's tool is gonna surface ?
There is no official information on that yet.
