No, it's just a magical space suit that turns a normal worm into a super hero:p

Did some work on the eyes. Will try to get the gloves done today. Then I'll make his plasma blaster.

Ok. Now he has hands. And speaking of "hands". I'm going to try mine at texturing this fellow. So I'll post more then. Because I know I'm going to need help in this department.

You have truly done justice to a true original. Now let's see him move!

Alternatively I will settle for queen slug-for-a-butt, or professor monkey head!

Ok, I'm looking for some help here. Look at the attached file and tell me why the seam is falling outside the box? I want to UV this guy. And how do I make a smooth transition between the face and the "worm" part of his head?

Thanks. Don

Looks good.

Concerning your uv, after you unweld you can size your mapping back into the non repeating uv space.

Can you post a pic with a checkerboard pattern texture applied. Looks like you definately have stretching on the forehead relative to the neck. May need to endomorph and then do some smoothing then uv point manipulation to reduce stretching.

Concerning your blend between seperate uv maps, can't you incorporate both areas into a single uv map.

jrm3d. Thanks. How do I resize my mapping? Are you talking about the map or the mesh?....I'm not concerned about stretching thus far. Need to see if I can one to cover the whole face first:p I've tried to map one big one to the whole head, but the mesh unwraps funny:confused: I've never done this before so I feel as if I'm spinning my wheels. Let me give your advice a try and I'll get back at ya'

Sorry that I was unclear.

Once you unweld your points, resize your mapping in the texture window.

I hope this helps.

You have to unweld the UV if you need to move the map anywhere or resize it, so that way the edges move with it. Make sure if you move a point on the edge the corresponding point on the opposite side is adjusted accordingly. Unweld the geometry but only use the size, stretch, move, drag tools inside the UV window. That way you don't change your geometry. Course, your subpatched head will look like crap until you merge all the points back together.

Also, in order to make your map the best possible you have to use a template. A checker board template, if you don't have one, can be made easily enough in photoshop or whatever paint package you use. With this template you can tell where the pinching is occuring and you can use the drag tool in the UV map to fix it. And if the map is way out of proportion in one area, grid squars are really big on the cheek but really small on the chin, then you can fix that.

I think what these guys are trying to explain can be found at this link in a more profoundly explained approch.

This will help you with UV. Well I hope, it sort of help me a bit.

Excellent modeling. Wouldn't mind to see the mesh though.

Keep up the good work and show your results to Tennapel, I'm sure he will love it too.

I had some fun making this :)

http://www.liquidpoly.net/temp/splitpolys.jpg
First split polys so the back of the head has an edge all the way down it.

http://www.liquidpoly.net/temp/unweld.jpg
Next unweld and move all the polys so the center of the back of the head is lined up with the edge of the UV space.

http://www.liquidpoly.net/temp/move.jpg
Select the polys outse the UV space and move them to the other side, lining them up the best you can. Then merge all the points back together.

http://www.liquidpoly.net/temp/final.jpg
It should look similiar to this when your done.

Next your going to have to slap a checkerboard on it and adjust the lip so the polys arn't overlapping...I would have shown you how to do that but that's a little beyond my capabilities when it comes to editing it in photoshop ;)

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to give them all a try either tonight or in the morning. Will let you know how I make out. And I'll get a wireframe up to ya soon.

Eric. I've been playing around with your suggestions. I got it to work like you said! But now I have decided to do the whole head as one UV map. I want to make a new neck for him and attach it. Think I'll need to put the mouth in a more relaxed position also. But what you have shown me has given me hope:D I'm off to see if I can make it work now.

This is just to show that I managed to get a map rapped on his head. I know there are streaching issues. But this is just a test. Now comes the part about making a good looking map and making it fit. Will post my progress.

p.s. Thanks for the help:p

Looks great...I don't remember him having that much color in the game. Are you going to animate him? Do you know anything about rigging? If you need someone to rig him for animation I might be interested.

Thanks Astro. Learning from my mistakes huh?:p

New2Lw. I never saw the game. Just sorta remeber him in some comics...I think. I modeled him off of a action figure I bought a Wal-Mart. The blister art had a nice painting of him. So, I'm kinda going for that. But I must admit, I'm embellishing him a bit more. Here is another color map with specularity map.
