with LW 5.6 i could have sworn i had the option to render my scenes using openGL instead of the standard Realistic, quickshade, and wireframe. Am i right? Is there any way to get this option with 7.5? I just got a new Geforce FX card and was curious how the openGL might look.
Your thinking of RenderGL. Yes that was an option on 5.6 to render with GL but it never really worked well which is why it was dropped. One can only hope that LW 8 will have better OpenGL support. I know Maya has a rendergl thing but I don't know anything about it.

Nope, Maya has no RenderGL - RenderGL has been dead for at least 2 years now (it died with the demise of Intergraph). Maya uses DirectX for its "Hardware rendering mode" and for everything else it just uses OpenGL like any other 3D app. I'm confident, we'll see more of this stuff in LW 8.

Hmmm it's just i noticed that with a few plugins i use it shows my models using opengl or direct x and they look much nicer then in modeler's view. would be great to see them in a render :) oh well. Wonder how long it'll be before 8 is out...

I meant that Maya has some sort of Accelerated OpenGl rendering not that it was the same thing (RenderGL) that was in Lightwave 2 years ago.
