Hi,
I want to have my Lightwave content on my new Windows Vista64 system to run ScreamerNET/Butterfly Net Render. I have setup a huge RAID5 for all my Lightwave content on this Windows Vista64 Ultimate system. I love the system but I cannot figure out how to share drives with my Windows XP network. I have never had this much trouble sharing drives. I have tried many things and even though the drive shows up on the network, it says I do not have permission to enter it. Can you help me? Thanks.

Hi, okay I figured it out, just had to add "Everyone" to the list of users and make them co-owner. Now I am sharing folders on a Vista system with my Windows XP, 2000, and x64 network.

You figured it out already, just wanted to mention that I had plenty of issues myself regarding XP nodes and Vista (several) controllers. I lost connections to shares plenty of times, due to a variety of reasons and tried many suggestions to fix it. (registry etc).

In the end, I moved all raid/shares to a Linux server and it has been absolutely flawless since. So if you do happen to run into shares issues in the future, perhaps that is an option. Instead of doing it like me, and spend nights and nights cursing and trying to get it to work.

There's one downside to it, I need to upload all changed files/folders to the server before the farm can render it. Not perfectly failsafe. On the other hand, it is then automatically a forced backup. And with a normal 1Gbit setup, uploading speed stays pretty close to the max ~120MB/s. Even bonded some NIC's together to allow a theoretical 2 GB/s link to the switch and to the Linux server etc.

edit: I'm a total n00b regarding Linux. Luckily I got some friends with a good knowledge of it.
