Hey i have been playing around with cell shading lately and i modeled this gun that i thought i would post. Im starting 2 work on a short animation with cell shading. Do you have any advice as to how i should go about modeling a chracter for the best results with cell shading.

All your comments are welcome thnx :D

I like it.. it has a very cool feeling cel look. no hard black lines to stress attention to the edges.

I prefered the original non-cellshaded look!

Your model and cell shading looks good.

I like the look, but the blue liquid makes me think water pistol or paint gun.

Hesitating to post on this but here goes...

The model looks real good. The celshading does not look very good to me. What it looks like is a poorly lit, washed out 3d render. Most cel stuff has more clearly defined edges than what you have there. I'm not just talking about the black outlines but also the lines of the shading.

Here is some stuff I did on one of Proton's free models. I used Celshader's tut as a guideline for setting it up. This was just a couple of minutes of effort to give a basic idea of what I'm talking about.

Ok i did another render the glass kinda messed up but o well ill fix that later. I made the inside green and if you hadnt already figured it out it isnt a projectile gun :D. O and is there any chance you remeber the shader you used to get the outlines cause i use something called edge tracer but that doesnt have much effect. also im no trying 2 go for a rly cartoony look more something around the lines of anime?

Thnx for all your comments and all the best :D

If you turn on the render edges in the object properties then it will render the edges.
If that is what you are looking for. I like the way it is now.
