Pitty that you can see the guy, that was controling it, also in those airborne explosion debris.
Theo Jansen's "creatures" not so scary, more like low tone "woooow" to me. WIND POWER

It's not a robot, it's four blokes who totally messed up their auditions for the Pantomime Horse at a local village Play!
That's the Director in the background, he's not happy with their "modern" take on things.

... robots that can steady themselves are kind of creepy.
It will bother me when they start to kick back, or even just avoid people who intend to kick them.

I have two robot in my house, both are very task specific, a Roomba vacuum and a little "autonomous" R2D2, which is actually a toy for my border collie. I really don't think I would want a human like android in my house though, certainly not anything as depicted in the "I Robot" movie...

yes i used the word probably wrong. Might not be scary the right word.
In a way is that those legs, behaving animal like in a headless body, are 'creepy' and could give bad dreams :P

Actually Im excited about the prospects of seeing this used for people who are paralyzed, lost limbs etc.
It would also make an interesting pack animal or produce new forms of transportation in environments
where wheels wouldnt work well etc. The snake and fish robots are also quite interesting.
It also makes you wonder if a more advanced species hasnt already created more advanced robots to
check US out. :)

It seems pointless to me to make walking robots that mimic human movements. We're the result of billions of mistakes that end (so far) with 'this is good enough'. I think an intelligently designed robot would be more like the rolling weapons robots in Star Wars. Minimal moving parts, few joints, low center of gravity, and it wouldn't insist that it is patterned on its maker.

Regardless, it's coming. Man is too vain to not make a robot in likeness of itself. There's also that whole Mount Everest thing too. You have to climb it just to see if you can do it.

Looks like the arms are off-line or they simply forgot to add some arcs and overlapping action.
