Hi there. I just posted my new modeling demo reel (lo-res) and I'd like a little bit of help picking the song I use.

Both versions are on the site with a little poll you can use to vote.
Thanks!

Hey there, I'm definitely a fan of music a. The second one is a little too intense for the reel. One other thing, Remember to put your best work at the beginning. Things like dvd cases and pizza boxes aren't at the same level as dragons and snowmen with guns. The people who watch these have to sit through a million so if they see a pizza box as the second thing they might just move on and miss some of the more impressive stuff. I don't mean to be harsh or anything, just trying to be helpful. You definitely have a lot of talent and good luck on the job hunt.

+1
Start big, end big.
Remember, the church and the dvdcases may have amazing details or super surfacing, but the way they are presented, the viewer can't see it.

Thanks for the comments.
You're probably right about the placement of some of the objects. One of the reasons the Pizza Boxes are so near the front is because they show a low poly model with a normal map. It's not exactly a complex model and therefore not too impressive, but the game industry is strong in this area so I wanted to address the need for mundane yet detailed objects. If I get the time I'll rearrange things and rerender.
Do you like the format of moving through a sculpture gallery with side by side color and wires, or would a parade of turntable renders be better?

I liked track B better. Although I liked how the beginning of the music matched the pace of the demo compared with the end of the music.

So, its like this...
If were between this 2 i would go with B. More effective i think.
But A is so much warmer, but the music is not great overall i think for thsi effect.
So i would seek another warm music that actually generates a "Wow" or a "UUhhhh" while your watching the video, instead of a "Whata...?"
The first 20-25 seconds of A, it's a annyoing beat. Then the fun begins.
Looking good =)

Thanks for the votes Track B got twice as many as Track A. The people who liked track A had some good arguments, though, and I might cut down a longer version of the track to 1 minute to use in the future.
The new reel page is up (same URL as the voting page).
You can also see the reel in HD at http://vimeo.com/7093169 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKADkhaEECQ

I've seen this question asked a lot.
Honestly every reel that we ever looked at had that volume turned all the way down if there were speakers at all.
The problem is what you might like others won't. And we never wanted to judge the reel based on the music.
I say pick the one you like best and don't worry about it.
Don't know about other places though.
