Hi there all can someone tell me how I would go about setting up new users in VT3? Meaning, I wish to have them log in with their own name and password for the computer then open VT3 and have access to only their own files on say the video drive? Is this rpossible? We have VT3 here at a local public access station and have several volunteers that will be working on their own projects.
Just wondering what the best way is to set this up so each user has no access to each others files.
Thank you

Doug, it's quite easy.
Have each user log into Windows under their own account, and VT does the rest.

Paul, I have tried that but still have access to other users folders on the drives..... I don't even know if this is possible but was told it might be.
Thank you

The way I'd do it is to move the "My Documents" folder for each user to the root of the video drive - so you have Username01, Username02, Username03 etc... Then just make the folders hidden so it looks like there's nothing on the drive. If you're intending to do this for security reasons then I'm afraid it's not secure at all but if you just want to stop other users from messing with your files then it should work OK - when a user logs in and goes to "My Documents" they'll just see their own files.

Doug,
If you physically want to stop one user from being able to access the files from another, you will want to set the NT/XP user priveldges by right clicking on the folder and setting the access permissions.

does the rest but... eveytime that a user open VT3 the preference are in DEFAULT!
I log like DOMAIN administrator and set preference... VT3 record it and everything is ok.
I logoff and log like any DOMAIN user... VT3 DONT "see" the admin preferences.
and
The user change the preferences... exit VT3... open VT3 and go to preferences AND --> NOTHING WAS RECORD! PREFERENCES STILL ARE IN DEFAULT!!
Which permissions i must change and WHERE !?!?!?!?!
HELP PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
these problem was solved... i just add "full permissions" to VT3 folder... but, a new problem appear:
Any new user login have the preferences in default.
we have 3-VT3 in a channel TV station... with lot of people working with its.
so... i CANT set the preferences to users... one by one...
WHERE i can find the "preferences file" to copy this file to all users login config ?
tkx in advance :)
again please... any help is welcome !

Not at the workstation so I can't give exact location today, but there is a Skin's folder that contains the Preference files. It is human readable. I think it is in the Desktop Skins folder somewhere, under a folder created for each user login.
NICE !
C:\VT3\Skins\Preferences
There are the default settings...
Will i reemplace
Default User.script
and
Toaster.script
with Administrador.script ?
:)
