I’m having problems with video playing back.

I created a news package with footage shot in studio on the TriCaster. I then edit it in Adobe Premier.

I did the project in a native NTSC format and one using the TriCaster Codec

I also rendered it out in multiple formats MPEG 2, AVI uncompress, MS DV1, and used the TriCaster Codec’s too.

My problem is, all the videos plays well in windows media but when loaded in the tracster it looks awful it plays but it looks like bits and pieces are cut out of the frame with little black dots dancing all over the place kind of like video dropout.

Does any one have any ideas on how to fix it.
Thanks
Tai

Albuquerque aye?

Well, I don't know how to fix it, but if you buy a big pocket full of really really really neat bright shiney crystals and go out to the Ghost Ranch in Abiqiu where Georgia O'Keefe lived and eat some peyote buttons it won't run any different but you'll think it looks FANTASTIC !!!

We tried using uncompressed .avi's but when recording and playing 2 DDR's we had stuttering.
I'll try to remember and confirm with you in the morning what our perfect combination is, but in general we shoot for the best quality and test the heck out of it.
For a quick answer I think we ended up using a version of mpeg2 but I'll verify that in the morning.

For those following this thread, in private correspondence Tai wrote that he had discovered his little black spots showed up as a result of LiveMatte being enabled (don't know why that didn't occur to me, perfect explanation).

Tai,

I guess this is a render problem in Premiere, not beeing able to handle the Newtek codec properly. Try making a test, editing with the editor inside Tricaster, or other NLE and see what you get.

Halley, the last run of video we built to run in our TriCaster productions in the DDR was rendered out of AfterEffects as Microsoft DV compression .avi with 48k audio. It runs about 200meg per minute.
We might be able to get a higher quality to work, but this allows recording at the HQ MPEG and run 2 DDR's without any stuttering.
Best of luck!
